Citizens National Bank (CNB) has announced the promotions of Sheri Popp, Jessica Smith‑Schley, and Felix Smith, reinforcing the bank’s leadership across credit operations, regulatory compliance, and information security. Each brings a unique background and proven track record to their expanded roles.

Sheri Popp was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Credit Officer, in recognition of her leadership, 16 years of banking experience, and continued initiative within CNB’s Credit Department. Popp joined CNB in April 2018 as a Credit Analyst and advanced to Credit Manager in 2021 before being promoted to Credit Officer in 2023. She manages the Credit Department, working closely with analysts and lenders to move commercial loans through the approval process. Popp holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Western Michigan University and currently serves as treasurer for Cross of Christ Lutheran Church of Petoskey. She lives in Petoskey with her husband, Jeff; they have three adult sons.
Jessica Smith‑Schley has been named Associate Anti‑Money Laundering/Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Officer, reflecting her continued professional growth and broad institutional knowledge. Smith-Schley began her CNB career in 2015 as a Seasonal Universal Banker while attending Grand Valley State University and joined the bank full-time following her graduation in 2018. She has advanced through roles in retail banking, loan operations, executive administration, and, most recently, compliance. Smith-Schley provides bank-wide compliance support and plays a key role in day‑to‑day regulatory monitoring and reporting. She also serves as president of the Cheboygan Area Arts Council. She lives in Cheboygan with her husband, Zack, and their son, Callan.
Felix Smith was promoted to Information Security & Technology Officer, reflecting his consistent delivery of strong results and readiness for expanded leadership. Prior to joining CNB in February 2025 as the Information Security & Technology Manager, he had five years of banking experience – including roles as a Universal Banker, Universal Banker Manager, and Branch Manager – along with two years of IT, network security, and project management experience in the aerospace industry. He drives strategic technology initiatives and oversees the security of CNB’s digital environment. Smith lives in Levering with his wife and their son and two daughters, who inspire his continued growth.
