JOB TITLE:   Director of Marketing & Community Relations

Primary Function: Responsible for the development and implementation of all marketing strategies to promote the organization’s products, services, and brand, as well as fostering positive relationships with the community and key stakeholders. This role involves overseeing campaigns, managing communications, and actively engaging with community members to enhance the organization’s reputation and visibility.

Principal Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Strategy & Leadership:
    • Spearhead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies that align with the bank’s goals.
    • Lead with a collaborative spirit, fostering innovation and growth.
    • Maintain professional contacts and knowledge base of marketing skills within and outside of the financial institution; keep up with issues, trends and developments of the financial industry.
    • Establish and maintain efficient working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, and customers.
    • Maintain regular consistent attendance, personal appearance, punctuality and adherence to applicable health and safety procedures.
  • Brand Ambassadorship:
    • Be the face and voice of bank brand, crafting and conveying messages with clarity and enthusiasm, working to ensure brand resonates within the community, building trust and loyalty.
    • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, local businesses, media outlets, and government agencies.
    • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization, representing its interests in media interviews, public speaking engagements, and other public forums.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Plan and manage community events and initiatives that underscore bank’s commitment to the local area. These efforts will not only enhance community presence but also reinforce the bank’s reputation as a supportive and engaged partner.
    • Develop, publish, and distribute all press releases in a timely manner.
    • Plan and coordinate community events, sponsorships, and other initiatives to enhance the organization’s presence and reputation to the public, customers, shareholders, and the community.
    • Represent the bank at various community business and educational functions to develop awareness of bank services.
    • Stay informed about community relations and recommend innovative strategies to keep the organization ahead of the curve.
    • Manage and coordinate all employee and public relation activities for the financial institution such as, retirement lunches, Good Morning Cheboygan, Business Expos, Pictures with Santa, branch Open Houses, Halloween decorating, Holiday decorating. Assist HR in execution of Employee Recognition Dinner, Employee Christmas Party, and other employee events as they arise.
    • Function as or coordinate photographer at all bank events.
  • Creative Campaigns:
    • Oversee the creation of engaging marketing content and campaigns across various channels. Your keen eye for detail and creative direction will ensure campaigns are compelling and effective.
    • Oversee the creation of engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, mailings and print materials and keep said platforms and content current.
    • Develop and direct media advertising and sales literature.
    • Design, print, and monitor the financial institutions branches with posters, signs, and brochures.
  • Performance Analysis:
    • Utilize analytical skills to assess the effectiveness of marketing initiatives, making data-driven decisions to optimize future campaigns.
    • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats, and use findings to inform marketing strategies.
    • Monitor and analyze the performance of marketing campaigns, using data-driven insights to optimize strategies and maximize ROI.
    • Prepare regular reports and presentations for leadership, summarizing key metrics, accomplishments, and challenges in marketing and community relations.
    • Attend and actively participate in various bank committees as required.
  • Budget Management:
    • Manage the marketing budget efficiently, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve our goals.
  • Compliance and Coordination:
    • Ensure all marketing activities comply with industry laws and bank policies, collaborating closely with internal teams to maintain consistency and integrity in our marketing efforts.
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, product development, and customer service, to align marketing efforts with business objectives.
    • Comply with all laws, regulations, bank policies and procedures, including specifically Citizens National Bank’s Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Policy and procedures, and its Customer Identification Program.

  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 25 pounds for set up and tear down of events and moving items upstairs and/or downstairs when necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel to bank locations and attend community events, as necessary.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or business management or career equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in marketing, public relations, communications management, and event planning preferred, with a preference for candidates with banking experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of website design and social media platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of website design applications and graphic design programs
